THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM

  • AN IN DEPTH ANALYSIS ON HOW CBD OIL WORKS WITH THE BODY

The Endocannabinoid system is a Neural Communication network which produces lipid-based retrograde neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors called the CB1 and CB2 located in the central and peripheral nervous system.

The two main Endocannabinoid neurotransmitters produced within the body are called Anandamide and 2 AG (Arachidonylglycerol) These naturally occur in breast milk and Cacao (Chocolate), It is produced during sex and physical exercise. Some of us are familiar with something called “The Runners High”.

Anandamide is also known as “The Bliss Molecule” It produces feelings of well being. Arachidonylglycerol communicates with specific receptors that work with the immune system and other organ functions.

RECEPTORS IN THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM

CBD is an allosteric modulator of many receptor sites in our bodies, interacting within a lipid communication network,   Allosteric modulators change the shape of specific receptors to alter their ability to interact with neurotransmitters.

  • CBD works mostly with the CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptor is found primarily in the brain and nervous system. The CB2 receptor governs peripheral organs and cells associated with the immune system.

  • CBD is a negative allosteric modulator of the CB1 receptor, reducing its ability to bind with THC; this explains why high-CBD cultivars of cannabis mitigate unwanted side effects of THC

  • ·         CBD activates the 5-ht1A receptor. The 5-ht1A receptor helps regulate anxiety, addiction, appetite, sleep, pain perception, nausea, and vomiting

  • ·         CBD also antagonizes GPR55 receptors. GPR55 receptors are widely distributed in the brain and help to control bone density and blood pressure.

  • ·         CBD activates TRPV1 receptors which is involved in regulating pain, body temperature, and inflammation.

  • ·         CBD activates PPAR-gamma receptors. PPAR-gamma receptors are located on the cell’s nuclei and play a role in insulin sensitivity, dopamine release and the degradation of beta-amyloid plaque, which is associated with Alzheimer’s disease

CBD Oil enhances the body’s ability to interact and communicate with itself to achieve homeostasis. Therefore CBD oil can benefit everyone and helps to keep the nervous system running at full function.
